As we scale, we are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager/Senior Accountant to join our team. This role will play a key part in leading client engagements, overseeing accounting processes, ensuring quality control, and providing high-level technical expertise for the firm. Position Overview:

As an Accounting Manager/Senior Accountant, you will take on a leadership role within our firm, providing quality control, reviewing accounting work, and managing more complex and sensitive client matters. You will be responsible for overseeing the daily accounting functions, interacting with clients directly, and providing expert guidance to the accounting team. You will also serve as a key point of contact for IRS inquiries, complex tax issues, and high-level accounting support. Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Engagement & Meetings:
    • Lead client meetings to discuss financial statements, tax strategies, and business planning.
    • Be the primary point of contact for clients, addressing high-level questions and ensuring timely, effective communication.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing value-added financial insights and strategic advice.
  • Tax & Accounting Reviews:
    • Review accounting work, ensuring that all financial records are accurate, complete, and compliant with regulations.
    • Conduct in-depth reviews of financial statements, journal entries, and tax filings to maintain the firm’s quality control standards.
    • Oversee the preparation of complex tax returns, ensuring that they are filed accurately and on time.
    • QuickBooks Online Proficiency and Ultra Tax software highly preferred
  • IRS & Tax Compliance:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for IRS matters, handling inquiries, audit support, and resolving any issues related to tax filings.
    • Manage complex tax matters, including tax research, planning, and compliance issues that require direct interaction with the IRS.
  • Team Leadership & Training:
    • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accountants, answering questions and supporting their professional development.
    • Review team members’ work, providing feedback and suggestions for improvement.
    • Ensure adherence to internal processes, best practices, and firm policies.
  • High-Level Accounting & Financial Work:
    • Handle sensitive financial matters, including business structuring, mergers, acquisitions, and other complex financial transactions.
    • Experience with forecasting and pro Formas
    • Ensure that high-level accounting functions, such as financial forecasting, budgeting, and internal controls, are accurately managed.
  • Quality Control:
    • Implement and maintain rigorous quality control processes to ensure that all accounting and tax work meets the firm’s high standards.
    • Identify areas of improvement in workflows, propose enhancements, and help implement changes to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in accounting or tax, preferably within a CPA firm or similar professional services environment.
    • Experience in managing client relationships, with a focus on providing strategic advice and high-level financial support.
    • Previous experience working with the IRS, including resolving tax issues, handling audits, and providing IRS support.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and IRS compliance.
    • Proven ability to review and supervise accounting work with a keen eye for detail.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to clients and team members.
    • Proficient in accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, etc.) and tax software (such as ProConnect, Drake, or similar).
    • Ability to manage multiple client projects and prioritize effectively.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
    • CPA designation or working towards it is highly preferred.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and motivate a team.
    • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on client service and delivering results.
    • High level of integrity and confidentiality, especially when dealing with sensitive client information.
